What’s happening in Japanese

Students in Japanese class have been busy this term learning adjectives and using them to describe a variety of objects and experiences. After practising how to build descriptive sentences, they moved on to a cultural topic —the rainy season in Japan.

Last lesson, students explored what the rainy season means for people living in Japan and natural features associated with it. One highlight was learning about ajisai, the iconic Japanese hydrangea that blooms beautifully during this time.

To celebrate the season, students created their own ajisai inspired artwork. The timing couldn’t have been better—Adelaide has seen plenty of rain lately, giving students the chance to compare our cold winter showers with Japan’s warm, humid rainy season.
