3/4C Have Been Busy, Engaged & Working Hard

The students in 3/4C have been busy, engaged, and working hard across a range of exciting learning experiences this term.

In English, students have been researching and writing information reports. They have been learning how to gather information from a variety of sources, organise facts into paragraphs, and use text features such as headings and diagrams to help inform readers. It has been wonderful to see students develop their research skills while becoming experts on their chosen topics.

Our Mathematics lessons have been full of hands-on learning and problem solving. Students have been strengthening their understanding of money through real-world situations involving calculating costs, making purchases, and finding change. We have also explored 2D and 3D shapes, identifying their features and comparing their properties. Students have investigated angles, learning to recognise right, acute, and obtuse angles in the world around them, and have continued developing their understanding of time by reading analogue and digital clocks, calculating elapsed time, and solving practical time-based problems.

In Science, students have been investigating the fascinating world of light and shadows. Through experiments and observations, they discovered how light travels, how shadows are formed, and how the position of a light source can change the size and direction of a shadow. Students were especially excited when learning about static electricity. By rubbing balloons on their hair, they created static charges that could attract small objects. One of our favourite investigations involved using balloons to make paper ghosts “dance”, allowing students to see the effects of static electricity in action.

Alongside their classroom learning, students have also been dedicating a great deal of time and effort to preparing for RELAT and our Grandparents’ Day performance. Rehearsals have required commitment, teamwork, and perseverance as students practised songs, choreography, and speaking parts. I am incredibly proud of the enthusiasm and positive attitude the students have shown while preparing for these special events.
