From The Principal
Dear Parents, Students, Staff and Friends of Nativity School,
It is hard to believe that Term 4 is already upon us. The year has passed so quickly and, as always, I am sure the weeks between now and Christmas will fly by. Term 4 is a busy and exciting time filled with learning, celebrations, special events and opportunities to reflect on all that has been achieved throughout the year. We look forward to sharing these final months of 2026 with you all.
We are pleased to advise families that Fletch have been appointed as the builders for our new toilet and amenities project. Site preparations are currently underway, with construction expected to commence within the next one to two weeks. We look forward to keeping families updated as the project progresses.
We extend a warm invitation to parents to attend the upcoming Raising Body Bright Children workshop, presented by the Butterfly Foundation. This engaging online session will provide practical strategies to support children aged 5-12 in developing a positive body image, healthy relationships with food and physical activity, and resilience to unhelpful messages about appearance. The seminar runs for 60 minutes, followed by 15 minutes of question time. For families unable to join the live presentation, a recording will be available to watch at a later date. Further information and registration details will be emailed to families shortly, and we warmly encourage all parents to take advantage of this valuable opportunity. Thanks to Gemma and Jess from the School Board, who have organised this event with a Parents in Education Grant.
On November 10, 39 students from Nativity will graduate from Children’s University at Bonython Hall, University of Adelaide. Wearing their caps and gowns, they will be recognised for the many hours they have committed to learning beyond the classroom. Together, our students have accumulated an outstanding 3,347 hours of learning; an achievement that reflects sustained effort, enthusiasm and the support of families, staff and the wider community. Special congratulations to Sophie (Yr6), who will leave Nativity having amassed an extraordinary 739 hours of learning across her three years in the program. Sophie will receive a Masters degree certificate in recognition of this remarkable commitment. Her achievement is a powerful example of what can happen when a young person combines curiosity with consistent effort and is encouraged by a supportive learning community. We are so proud of you, Sophie!
As we begin to prepare for the 2027 School Year, I am pleased to advise families that tuition fees for 2027 will remain unchanged at Nativity, with fees held at 2026 levels. In addition, the CESA commitment to providing free education for children commencing Reception in Term 3 will continue in 2027. This means families enrolling a child in the mid-year Reception intake will receive free tuition for Terms 3 and 4 of that year.
During Term 4, our teaching staff will begin the important process of preparing class placements for the 2027 school year. This is a complex and thoughtful task that considers the learning, wellbeing, social and emotional needs of every child. If there is information relating to your child’s learning or wellbeing that you believe should be considered as part of this process, please contact your child’s class teacher via email by Friday 24 October. We appreciate your support and understanding that, while all relevant information will be carefully considered, requests for specific teachers cannot be accommodated.
Each year we ask students, staff and families to participate in the Live Learn Lead Surveys. We encourage all members of our community to take a few moments to complete the survey that was emailed on Monday. Your feedback is invaluable in helping us celebrate our strengths and identify opportunities for continued growth and improvement across our school.
A gentle reminder that regular school attendance plays a vital role in student learning, wellbeing and success. Every day at school provides valuable opportunities for students to develop knowledge and skills, build relationships, participate in rich learning experiences and grow in confidence. Consistent attendance helps students maintain progress in their learning, feel connected to their peers and teachers, and establish positive habits that support future success. We thank families for prioritising attendance and ensuring students arrive at school on time, ready to learn and fully engage in the life of our school community.
God Bless,
Erika
