What’s happening in 5/6HB
Year 5/6 Harrison Broad have made a fantastic start to Term 4, filled with exciting experiences, meaningful learning opportunities and plenty of memorable moments!
Camp Adventures
We kicked off the term with three action-packed days at Douglas Scrub, where students challenged themselves through a range of exciting activities, including stand-up paddleboarding, snorkelling, model boat building, rock climbing, mountain biking and high ropes. Throughout camp, students demonstrated resilience, embraced a growth mindset and stepped outside their comfort zones. It was wonderful to see friendships strengthen, relationships develop and students encouraging and supporting one another along the way.
English
In English, students have been busy planning and designing their own magazines. Our Year 6 students are creating magazines that celebrate and reflect on their time at Nativity, while our Year 5 students are developing engaging, child-focused magazines designed with a younger audience in mind. Students are exploring how to engage readers through thoughtful content, creative design and purposeful choices.
Mathematics
In Mathematics, students have been exploring probability through a variety of fun and engaging games. They have investigated the likelihood of different events occurring and represented probabilities as both fractions and positions on a number line. These hands-on experiences have encouraged students to think critically, make predictions and deepen their understanding of chance.
Religious Education
In Religious Education, students have been exploring the concept of sacramentality and learning how all of creation can reveal signs of God’s love and presence. Through their study of the Gospels, students will also explore how Jesus prayed, how He taught others to pray, and how encounters with Jesus transformed lives and strengthened people’s relationships with God.
Looking Ahead
As we move further into Term 4, our Year 5 students will continue to share and present their ideas for the 2027 Year 6 jumper theme. Meanwhile, our Year 6 students will begin engaging in a range of exciting transition and celebration activities as they prepare for the next chapter of their learning journey.
It’s shaping up to be a wonderful final term, and we look forward to sharing more of the students’ learning, achievements and special moments in the weeks ahead!
