From The Principal
Dear Parents, Students, Staff and Friends of Nativity School,
It’s certainly a busy and exciting time of year at Nativity, with so many wonderful experiences and opportunities ahead for our students. From celebrations and community events to opportunities that showcase their learning, talents and achievements, there is much to look forward to as we move through the final weeks of the year.
We are excited for our Campus Colour Run this Friday and look forward to a fun-filled afternoon bringing our Campus community together. A huge thank you to all of our parent volunteers who are helping on the day, and a special thank you to Bianca Henderson for her wonderful organisation and coordination of the event. We can’t wait!
We extend a warm invitation to parents to attend the upcoming Raising Body Bright Children workshop, presented by the Butterfly Foundation on Thursday 19 November and Tuesday 8 December. This engaging online session will provide practical strategies to support children aged 5-12 in developing a positive body image, healthy relationships with food and physical activity, and resilience to unhelpful messages about appearance. The seminar runs for 60 minutes, followed by 15 minutes of question time. Information will be sent home via email soon with details on how to register etc..
Yesterday, some of our students proudly represented Nativity at the SACPSSA Athletics Carnival. It was wonderful to see them challenging themselves, supporting one another and demonstrating great sportsmanship throughout the day. Congratulations to all who participated and represented our school with such enthusiasm and pride. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for a special post celebrating our event winners and their fantastic achievements!
Next Tuesday, 10 November, we look forward to celebrating with 39 of our students at the Children’s University Graduation. This special occasion recognises their commitment to learning beyond the classroom, their curiosity and enthusiasm for new experiences. Collectively, our students have completed an incredible 3,347 hours of learning. We congratulate all of our graduates on this wonderful achievement and extend a special thank you to Sian Halliday Wynes for coordinating Children’s University at Nativity and supporting our students throughout the year.
On Wednesday, 11 November, our Campus community will come together for a special Remembrance Day ceremony to pause, reflect and honour the courage and sacrifice of those who have served our country. Parents are warmly invited to join us from 10.30am in the Remembrance Garden as we gather in a spirit of gratitude, respect and remembrance. Lest We Forget.
On Friday, 13 November, our Reception students will lead our Assembly, where we will also celebrate our Nativity Stars Graduation. We look forward to warmly welcoming our newest students and their families into the Nativity community and sharing this special milestone with them. I look forward to seeing many of you there.
We are also very proud of our Nativity students who have been nominated for the Arch D Podcasting Awards and will attend the awards ceremony at the Capri Theatre on 14 November. Nativity has received nominations across three categories: Podcaster of the Year, Podcast Artwork of the Year and Podcast Team of the Year, recognising leadership, creativity, collaboration and outstanding teamwork in podcasting. We congratulate all of our nominees and wish them the very best at the awards!
Finally, a reminder that, in the spirit of compassion and service, our Nativity Student Leaders are inviting our school community to support the Vinnies Christmas Appeal. If you are able, please donate non-perishable food, toiletries, pyjamas, Christmas treats or brand-new toys to help bring some joy to those doing it tough this Christmas. Donations can be brought to school by Thursday, 19 November. Every contribution, big or small, is greatly appreciated.
God Bless,
Erika
