From the APRIM
At the School of the Nativity, we are incredibly proud to celebrate one of our own: Emma Harrison, who has been officially recognised as a Highly Accomplished Teacher (HAT) by the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL). Less than 1% of teachers nationwide have this qualification. Therefore, at School of the Nativity, these statistics are even better as we have Melinda James who is a Lead Teacher! This is a significant achievement that reflects Emma’s deep commitment to educational excellence, her leadership, and her impact on both students and colleagues. While we have always known Emma to be an outstanding educator, this recognition affirms just how accomplished she truly is. Congratulations, Emma!
A reminder that our Whole School Mass will be held next Friday, 8th August at 12:00pm in the Church, as we come together to celebrate the Feast Day of Saint Mary MacKillop. We warmly invite all families to join us in this special celebration. The Mass will be led by our wonderful 5/6HB class.
This term, our Global Concept is Environmental Stewardship, which beautifully aligns with our Term 3 Religious Education focus and the Season of Creation. Our driving question, “How do we care for Country?”, invites students to explore the rich connection between Aboriginal spirituality, Catholic Social Teaching, and our shared responsibility to protect the Earth. We are diving into Laudato Si’, Pope Francis’ powerful call to care for our common home, learning about how each of us, no matter how young, can make a difference. Importantly, we reflect on the reality that climate change disproportionately affects the world’s most poor and vulnerable, a call to compassion and action in our school community.
As part of our outreach this term, we are once again preparing soup for those in need. Our first Soup Cooking Day is Monday, 11th August. We welcome any donations of pumpkin, sweet potato, carrots, onions, and stock, which will help us to support those less fortunate than ourselves with warmth and nourishment.
Thank you for your ongoing support as we continue to live out our school values of compassion and justice, inspired by the example of Mary MacKillop and guided by the Gospel.
In all things love,
Rachel Baulderstone
