From The Principal
Dear Parents, Staff, Students and Friends of Nativity School,
Welcome back to Term 3, we have such a lot to look forward to including a whole School Mass for Mary MacKillop on Friday 15th August at 12pm, The Book Week Parade on Friday 22nd August, Catholic Schools Music Festival on Wednesday 24th September and of course the much anticipated Grandparents Day performance “School of Rock” on Friday 26th September. Please mark these dates in your diary.
Our new Reception students Aurora, Millie, Lily, Evelyn, Lexi, Eliza and Yuvraj are settling in well to their new class with Ms Li (see the photo below) and this week we welcome our Nativity Stars students who will be with us on either Thursday or Friday until the end of the year. Special welcome also to new students in other year levels, Noah, Levi, Sophie, Sonny and Mila we are excited to have you as a part of our community.
Melinda will be running a Reception to Year 2 Reading at Home workshop for parents on Wednesday 13th August. At this workshop you will learn strategies to support your child/ren with early literacy skills. Please register your attendance with Cate and Lisa.
Catholic School’s Open Week is week 3 of this term. This year the faces of our school campaign are year 2 students, Aroosh and Harry. From next Monday you can see them on Marion Rd near Everley Rd on the west side (Bus stop 22) and Marion Rd South of Sturt Rd on the east side (Bus stop 29) We have 2 School Tours running on Monday and Wednesday of week 3. If you know families that are interested, please encourage them to register for a tour on our website. I know from the tours I host that our community regularly recommends our school to their networks. Thank you, there is no better compliment than a recommendation.
Our canteen Manager Dave has announced that he will be finishing in this position as of the 7th of August. Dave will be greatly missed by the Nativity and Campus community in this role. In his time as canteen manager Dave has provided outstanding meals for our students, ensured quality options for all those with allergies and catered for staff events. Campus Leaders are in the process of advertising and finding a replacement for Dave, hard shoes to fill! We will inform you of any updates as soon as we can.
This year our year 6 Leaders chose the theme “Leading with a Josephite Heart” and I leave you with a prayer we recorded this week that talks about exactly what that means to us here at Nativity. Thanks Sophie and Evie for your editing skills!
God Bless,
Erika
