From the APL&T
Dear Families
As we near the end of Term 3, our school is buzzing with excitement and energy! Students have been busy investigating our Term 3 Global concept “How can we care for Country” exploring big ideas through inquiry, creativity, and collaboration.
In our Reception to Year 2 classes, learning centred on caring for the environment, students explored stewardship of God’s creation by learning from First Nations Peoples and Pope Francis’ teachings in Laudato Si’. Students engaged in creative and hands-on activities such as drawing, and reflect on the importance of protecting land, water, plants, animals, and people, fostering responsibility and gratitude for the earth.
Year 3 and 4 students have investigated sustainable farming and have conducted research to create a report on sustainability. They are looking forward to an excursion in Term 4 to learn more about farming.
Across classrooms, learners have engaged in meaningful discussions, hands-on activities, and thoughtful reflections that connect their learning to the world around them.
Outstanding Phonics Results at Our School!
The Phonics Screening Check helps identify students who need extra support with decoding skills. Our results reflect the dedication of our teachers, the strength of our literacy programs, and the hard work of our students. 72.2% of our Year 1 students met or exceeded the benchmark—a strong indicator of early reading success!
We were excited to receive the results of the 2025 Year 1 Phonics Screening Check—and would like to share this with our community.
Our School’s Performance vs. Region and CESA Averages:
Grandparents and Special Friends Day Performance
There’s a special kind of anticipation in the air as we prepare for our much-awaited performance: Nativity School of Rock!
From rehearsals to costume planning, students and staff have poured their hearts into bringing this production to life. The big performance, set for the last day of term, promises to be a joyful celebration of talent, teamwork, and school spirit.
As we count down to curtain call, we’re also looking forward to a well-deserved term break. It’s been a term full of growth, creativity, and connection—and we can’t wait to see what Term 4 brings!
I would like to leave you with these words about learning…
“Never stop learning, because life never stops teaching.”
Kind regards
Melinda James
