From the Leader of Learning
Dear Nativity Community,
Premiers Reading Challenge
There are less than 70 days remaining of the Premiers reading Challenge. With the school holidays approaching, this could be an ideal opportunity for your child to read some books. A reminder that children in Year 3-6 wishing to complete the Premiers Reading Challenge and receive a certificate and medal they will need to complete the challenge and return the completed form to their class teacher by the beginning of September. If you need another form or if you wish to find some books titles available they can be found on Book List | Premiers Reading Challenge SA
Playgroup
Nativity Nest Playgroup will continue in Term 3 on a Tuesday and Thursday morning (9:00 – 10:15am.) We look forward to welcoming young children and families joining our playgroup no matter what the weather is like outside. We have a variety of fun activities to do inside in the warmth.
Children’s Book Week
The school holidays might be an ideal time to have a discussion with your child about what Book character they would like to dress up as for Book week. Book Week is a time to celebrate and promote the joy that reading brings to the minds of children. We are looking forward to celebrating Book Week during Week 5 of Term 3 and will celebrate with a Dress up parade. The theme for the CBCA 2025 is Book an Adventure. We wonder what adventures our school community will take.
Remember, for our students collecting hours for Children’s University, the activities you carry out can be added to your hours.
Term break
Spending some time during the term break to do things that are different to the school term can be what children remember for a long time. Some favourites of some of our students are cooking, building, sleep overs, camping in the back yard, beach walks, museum visits, library visits, nature walks, visits to nature playgrounds……. Finally, I would like to leave you with a quote from Winnie the Pooh,
“We didn’t realise we were making memories; we just knew we were having fun.”
Enjoy making memories during the school holidays!
Kind regards
Melinda James
